Standards for Drivers
These guidelines apply to all staff, always.
- Employee must possess a valid class 5 or higher driver’s license.
- No driving under the influence of alcohol or other drugs.
- No smoking in vehicles that are to be used for transporting persons served.
- All drivers will complete a basic safety orientation program prior to transporting persons served.
- Employees must immediately report any loss or suspension of driver’s license, cancellation, or termination of personal vehicle insurance, and/or convictions for traffic violations which may affect eligibility for coverage under the employee’s vehicle insurance policy.
- Should an employee engage in the transportation of persons served or carry out agency business without proper license and insurance, the employee will be subject to dismissal and will assume full legal and financial responsibility for any adverse events that may occur as a result.
- Each employee will produce driving records to this agency upon demand. The Safety Officer or their designate, will review employee driving records, not less than every 12 months.
